POLAND - Austrian War Cemetery No.118, Staszkowka

Staszkówka - Patria, the WW the 1-st Military Cemetery no. 118.  Thanks to Eweline for the card.

"On a flat ridge of the Patria Hill (432 m above sea level), among the trees, we can see from afar four massive stone pylons. Two of them are crowned with blades of huge iron swords, aimed straight at the sky. This structure, visible from afar, is a central part of the war cemetery No 118, designed by Berlin sculptor, Hermann Hosaeus – as because out of 763 soldiers buried here, more than half fought in the German army. Among them, there were also many Poles from the Prussian Partition, from Wielkopolska. Source

This war cemetery contains 439 war graves: 281 Austro-Hungarian and 43 Russian soldiers who fell in the First World War."

GERMANY - Lutherstadt Wittenberg

Thanks to Vanessa for the card.

"Wittenberg, officially Lutherstadt Wittenberg, is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Situated on the River Elbe, it has a population of about 50,000. The importance of Wittenberg historically was due to its seat of the Elector of Saxony, a dignity held by the dukes of Saxe-Wittenberg and also to its close connection with Martin Luther and the dawn of the Protestant Reformation; several of its buildings are associated with the events of this time. Part of the Augustinian monastery in which Luther dwelt, first as a monk and later as owner with his wife and family, is preserved and considered to be the world's premier museum dedicated to Luther. Various Luther and Melanchthon memorial sites were added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 1996."

TURKEY - Antalya

Thanks to Aral for the card.

"Antalya [ɑnˈtɑljɑ]) is the fifth-most populous city in Turkey and the capital of its eponymous province. Located on Anatolia's flourishing southwest coast bordered by the Taurus Mountains, Antalya is the largest Turkish city on the Mediterranean coast with over one million people in its metropolitan area. The city that is now Antalya was first settled around 200 BC by the Attalid dynasty of Pergamon, which was soon subdued by the Romans. Roman rule saw Antalya thrive, including the construction of several new monuments, such as Hadrian's Gate, and the proliferation of neighboring cities. The city has changed hands several times, including to the Byzantine Empire in 1207 and an expanding Ottoman Empire in 1391.

Ottoman rule brought relative peace and stability for the next five hundred years. The city was transferred to Italian suzerainty in the aftermath of World War I, but was recaptured by a newly independent Turkey in the War of Independence. Antalya is Turkey's biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera. Large-scale development and governmental funding has promoted tourism. A record 12.5 million tourists passed through the city in 2014."
