CZECH REPUBLIC - Forest Cemetery in Novy Bor

The cemetery contains the graves and memorial stones of victims of the First and Second World War.

VIRGINIA - Arlington Natinal Cemetery

330,000 American servicemen are buried at the 624 acre natinal cemetery. Among, the notable Americans buried there are William Taft, John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Robert Kennedy.

JAPAN - Ko Ya San

"Mount Koya (高野山, Kōyasan) is the center of Shingon Buddhism, an important Buddhist sect which was introduced to Japan in 805 by Kobo Daishi (also known as Kukai), one of Japan's most significant religious figures. A small, secluded temple town has developed around the sect's headquarters that Kobo Daishi built on Koyasan's wooded mountaintop. It is also the site of Kobo Daishi's mausoleum and the start and end point of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage." Source or here (Interesting..)

POLAND - Austrian War Cemetery No.118, Staszkowka

Staszkówka - Patria, the WW the 1-st Military Cemetery no. 118.  Thanks to Eweline for the card.

"On a flat ridge of the Patria Hill (432 m above sea level), among the trees, we can see from afar four massive stone pylons. Two of them are crowned with blades of huge iron swords, aimed straight at the sky. This structure, visible from afar, is a central part of the war cemetery No 118, designed by Berlin sculptor, Hermann Hosaeus – as because out of 763 soldiers buried here, more than half fought in the German army. Among them, there were also many Poles from the Prussian Partition, from Wielkopolska. Source

This war cemetery contains 439 war graves: 281 Austro-Hungarian and 43 Russian soldiers who fell in the First World War."

CHINA - The Tomb of Confucius

"The Cemetery of Confucius (Chinese: 孔林; pinyin: Kǒng lín; literally: "Kong Forest [of gravestones]") is a cemetery of the Kong clan (the descendants of Confucius) in Confucius' hometown Qufu in Shandong province. Confucius himself and some of his disciples are buried there, as well as many thousands of his descendants."

USA - Eklutna Historical Park

Eklutna Historical Park, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Eklutna, Alaska.
A wonderful and unique blend of Athabascan tradition and Orthodox Christian beliefs.

"A combination of Russian Orthodox tradition and Native American practices, the graveyard outside of the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Eklutna, Alaska, is filled with more than 100 colorful burial sites. These fantastic spirit houses, each about the size of a large dollhouse, are considered a part of the Eklutna Historical Park. 

Located at the head of the Knik Arm of Cook Inlet, Eklutna is at the mouth of the Eklutna River, about 25 miles outside of Anchorage, Alaska. The site of many Athabascan Indian villages about 800 years ago, Eklutna is, today, filled with people who are descendants of the Danaina tribe. Russian Orthodox missionaries arrived in the area around 1830 and the two communities slowly became one." Source

PHILIPPINES - Underground Cemetery. Nagcarlan, Laguna

"The Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery (Filipino: Libingan sa Ilalim ng Lupa ng Nagcarlan) is a national historical landmark and museum in Barangay Bambang, Nagcarlan, Laguna supervised by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. It was built in 1845 under the supervision of Franciscan priest, Fr. Vicente Velloc as a public burial site and its underground crypt exclusively for Spanish friars, prominent town citizens and members of elite Catholic families. It is dubbed as the only underground cemetery in the country."

CHINA - Ming Tombs

This card shows, The Minglou (soul tower) in the Changling Tomb, Beijing.

"The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum (Chinese: 明孝陵; pinyin: Míng Xiào Líng; literally: "Ming filial mausoleum") is the tomb of the Hongwu Emperor, the founder of the Ming dynasty. It lies at the southern foot of Purple Mountain, located east of the historical centre of Nanjing, China. Legend says that in order to prevent robbery of the tomb, 13 identical processions of funeral troops started from 13 city gates to obscure the real burying site.

The construction of the mausoleum began during the Hongwu Emperor's life in 1381 and ended in 1405, during the reign of his son the Yongle Emperor, with a huge expenditure of resources involving 100,000 labourers. The original wall of the mausoleum was more than 22.5 kilometres long. The mausoleum was built under heavy guard of 5,000 troops."

BULGARIA - Thracian Tomb, Kazanlak

"Discovered in 1944, this tomb dates from the Hellenistic period, around the end of the 4th century BC. It is located near Seutopolis, the capital city of the Thracian king Seutes III, and is part of a large Thracian necropolis. The tholos has a narrow corridor and a round burial chamber, both decorated with murals representing Thracian burial rituals and culture. These paintings are Bulgaria’s best-preserved artistic masterpieces from the Hellenistic period."
