NORWAY - Nidaros Cathedral, Trondheim

"Nidaros Cathedral (Norwegian: Nidarosdomen / Nidaros Domkirke) is a Church of Norway (Evangelical Lutheran) cathedral located in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is built over the burial site of King Olav II of Norway now Saint Olav (c. 995-1030, reigned 1015-1028), the King of Norway in the 11th century, who became the patron saint of the nation, and is the traditional location for the consecration of new Kings of Norway. It was built over a long period of 230 years, from 1070 to 1300 when it was substantially completed. But additional work, additions and renovations continued occasionally intermittently for seven more centuries until 2001, and designated as the cathedral for the Diocese of Nidaros in 1152.

"Røros is one of the oldest towns of wooden buildings in Europe and is located on a gently sloping plateau 628 metres above sea level. The city was founded in 1644 when the first copper ore was found in the area, and over the years, 

Røros became one of the most important mining towns in Norway. Røros has retained much of its original character. The street pattern and farming properties in the centre of town are the same as were originally constructed in the 1600’s. Due to its authentic wooden buildings and unique character of an early mining town, Røros was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980."

NORWAY - 'Old Mining Town', Roros

This card shows UNESCO World Heritage, church and old town area.  The stamps are the two set issued for Christmas 2009.  what a nice set of combination of my theme!.  Many thanks to Joey for the card!.

NORWAY - Princess Martha Louise and Ari Behn

"Princess Märtha Louise of Norway (born 22 September 1971) is the only daughter and elder child of King Harald V and Queen Sonja. She is fourth in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne, after her brother Haakon, and his two children.

On 24 May 2002 Princess Märtha Louise married in Trondheim author Ari Behn.  They have three daughters: Maud Angelica (born in 2003), Leah Isadora (born in 2005), and Emma Tallulah (born in 2008).

On 5 August 2016, the Royal Court announced that Princess Märtha Louise and Ari Behn are separating and starting divorce proceedings but will have joint custody of their three daughters."

NORWAY - Crown Prince Haakon

"Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈhoːkʊn]; born 20 July 1973), with the full name Haakon Magnus, is the heir apparent to the Throne of Norway and the son of the reigning King, Harald V. He is also a Prince of Denmark and a member of the House of Glücksburg. The Crown Prince is married to Mette-Marit, Crown Princess of Norway, with whom he has two children. He has an older sister, Princess Märtha Louise. In accordance with Norway's agnatic primogeniture succession, Haakon became Crown Prince when his father ascended the throne in 1991. He is expected to succeed to the throne as Haakon VIII."

NORWAY - The Seven Sisters

"The Seven Sisters (Norwegian: De Syv Søstrene or Dei Sju Systrene, also known as Knivsflåfossen) is the 39th tallest waterfall in Norway. The waterfall consists of seven separate streams, and the tallest of the seven has a free fall that measures 250 metres (820 ft). The waterfall is located along the Geirangerfjorden in Stranda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The waterfall is located just south of the historic Knivsflå farm, across the fjord from the old Skageflå farm. The falls are about 6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi) west of the village of Geiranger. It is part of the Geiranger World Heritage Site.

The legend of the seven sisters is that they dance playfully down the mountain. Meanwhile, across the fjord, the suitor (or courter) flirts playfully with them from afar."

NORWAY - Arctic Norway

"Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a sovereign and unitary monarchy whose territory comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula, Jan Mayen, and the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard.

The Antarctic Peter I Island and the sub-Antarctic Bouvet Island are dependent territories and thus not considered part of the Kingdom. Norway also lays claim to a section of Antarctica known as Queen Maud Land. Until 1814, the Kingdom included the Faroe Islands (since 1035), Greenland (1261), and Iceland (1262)."
