The park is also home to animals of the boreal forest, such as wolves, grizzly bears and caribou. Dall's sheep and mountain goats are found in the park's alpine environment."

Empress Alexandra Feodorovna

Biography:
Alexandra Feodorovna was consort of the Russian Czar Nicholas II. Her rule precipitated the collapse of Russia's imperial government. She was murdered, along with her entire family, in 1918.

JAPAN - Byada-in, Phoenix Hall

"The Phoenix Hall at Byodo-in Temple in Uji, a small city located to the south of Kyoto, famous for its green tea (Uji Matcha), rich history and association with Japan’s first novel, the Tales of Genji

The original structure was a country villa for the Fujiwara clan and converted to a temple in 1052. It is one of Kyoto’s many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Phoenix Hall, also known as the Amida-do is the most famous building at the temple and was built in 1053. It is one of the few original wooden structures still remaining in Japan from the Heian Period (710 – 1185). The Phoenix Hall consists of a main central hall, flanked by twin wing corridors on both sides and a tail corridor. The architecture of the Phoenix Hall resembles the shape of a phoenix and hence the name. The phoenix was a popular mythical bird revered by the Japanese as a protector of Buddha. There are also two bronze phoenixes perched opposite each other on the roof."

CHINA - Ming Tombs

This card shows, The Minglou (soul tower) in the Changling Tomb, Beijing.

"The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum (Chinese: 明孝陵; pinyin: Míng Xiào Líng; literally: "Ming filial mausoleum") is the tomb of the Hongwu Emperor, the founder of the Ming dynasty. It lies at the southern foot of Purple Mountain, located east of the historical centre of Nanjing, China. Legend says that in order to prevent robbery of the tomb, 13 identical processions of funeral troops started from 13 city gates to obscure the real burying site.

The construction of the mausoleum began during the Hongwu Emperor's life in 1381 and ended in 1405, during the reign of his son the Yongle Emperor, with a huge expenditure of resources involving 100,000 labourers. The original wall of the mausoleum was more than 22.5 kilometres long. The mausoleum was built under heavy guard of 5,000 troops."
