The Cathedral of the Resurrection in the city of Arzamas, Nizhny Novgorod region.

"The cathedral was built during the 28 years since 1814, with the money donated by the townspeople. The author of the architectural project was Michael Corinth (1788-1851), born in Arzamas, a master of classicism, a disciple of the famous architect Andrei Voronikhin.

Finishing work lasted for 21 years. The painting is made in the cathedral school pupils academician AV Stupin. The main altar was consecrated in 1840. In Soviet times, the cathedral has been decided to blow up, but because of the strong perturbations residents managed to keep the temple. In 1932 it was closed, there was a museum of atheism, it was thanks to the museum preserved the original appearance and unique interiors of the temple, and many Orthodox shrines Arzamas, who were brought here from the destroyed temples.
