AUSTRALIA Maxicard - The Eastern Grass Owl

Thanks so much to Liz for the maxicard.

"The eastern grass owl (Tyto longimembris), or Australian grass owl is a species of owl in the family Tytonidae. T

The Eastern Grass Owl is sometimes known as the ‘Daddy Long-legs Owl’, reflecting the prominence of its elongated, slender legs which are an adaption to living in marshy sedgelands, farmland, canefields and other open habitats with tussocks of grass. Unlike other Australian owls, grass owls nest on the ground, among rank vegetation. They hunt for rodents, birds and insects by flying slowly over an area, and then plunging head-first, with the bird’s talons lunging onto the hapless prey at the last moment."
