"Located at the entrance of Leninsky Sad (Lenin Gardens) off Ulitsa Pushkina is a statue of the Russian chemist Aleksandr Butlerov. Butlerov was born in Chistopol in the Kazansky Governorate in 1828 and after completing Kazan University went on to become one of the principle creators of the chemical structure theory. In addition, a street in Kazan is also named in his honour. Also to be found in Leninsky Sad is a simple memorial to victims of political repression."

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Goroka
Goroka - Eastern Highlands Province. Asaro Mudmen. Thanks to my boss for sending this card from his business trip.
"The Asaro Mudmen come from just outside the village of Goroka in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea.
The mudmen could not cover their faces because legends say that the people of Papua New Guinea thought that the mud from the Asaro river was poisonous. So instead of covering their faces with this alleged poison, they made masks from pebbles that they heated and water from the waterfall."
